How to post a shift in 5 minutes

A step-by-step walk through opening a desk, writing your first listing, and reading the first replies — from zero to live in under five minutes.

Posting a shift on CasualCareers takes less time than writing a job ad. Here's exactly how it works.

Step 1 — Open a desk. Sign up with your work email and a password. The 14-day trial lets you post three shifts with no card required. Your desk is live in under a minute.

Step 2 — Click 'Post a shift'. You'll see six fields: title, city, trade, pay rate, hours, and a short description. That's it. No company overview. No benefits package. No application form builder.

Step 3 — Fill in the rate. This is the field most employers are tempted to skip. Don't. Listings without a visible rate get fewer applications from workers who would actually take the job. Write '$18–21/hr' or '$22/hr flat'. Exact is fine. A range is fine. 'Competitive' is not.

Step 4 — Write the hours honestly. 'Fri–Sun 5pm–1am' is better than 'flexible evenings'. Workers who can't do those hours self-select out, which means fewer wasted conversations for you.

Step 5 — Publish. The shift goes live on the public board immediately. Copy the link and share it anywhere — it's a normal public URL.

Replies land on your desk. You'll see a notification when someone applies. Each reply shows a name, email, and a short note. Click the email to reply. Mark them hired, read, or passed.

The whole process takes under five minutes the first time. The second time, under two.
